Marc & Lonell 11 October 2008

Marc & Lonell's wedding is one that that we had looked forward to for over a year. As we said to Lonell, we have simply never had a bride that has been quite so organized in planning her wedding. This is one lady that knew exactly what she wanted and made sure that it happenned exactly as planned... Superlatives simply escape me to desribe the day.... Firstly, the setting was magnificent.... This shot taken on the morning of the wedding shows the view from Dragon Peaks resort, the home of the famous Drakensberg Boy's Choir.

Generally, we would include some shots of the bride's preparation but, the make-up took rather long and delayed the wedding somewhat so Marc had more photos in his outfit than Lonell. It was worth the wait though. Lonell's make up is simply the best we have seen. Francois, you are brilliant! Lonell and the rest of the ladies that Francois made up looked perfect well into and after the reception. Wow dude!

The Chapel at Champagne Castle is set on a little hill overlooking the valley as well as the resort. A big thanks to Champagne Castle for allowing us to park the choppers in the paddock.

We knew a few of the guests at the wedding from previous weddings that we have done as far afield as Newcastle. What really struck Danieta and I is how closely knit the group of friends and family are. Marc and Lonell are really an amazing couple and their choice of friends reflects their values and commitment to people...

This had to be the most exciting shoot that Danieta and I have ever done. After the service, we were whisked away by helicopter to take photographs in the mountains. After a bit of a mix up with the chopper booking (Westline organized one instead of two craft,) Henley Air saved the day and flew the Robbie 44 down from Rand Airport on Friday afternoon. Guys, we cannot thank you enough! Nadia, you're a legend! If you're needing to get airborne, these are the guys to use!

Shooting up there where the air is clear proved to be a challenge. We hope that we did the setting justice.

Nadia piloted Marc and Lonell's chopper. Isn't she just the prettiest chopper pilot that you've ever seen? And this girl can fly!

Danieta and I couldn't resist taking a photo of each other on the shoot. Hope you don't mind that I included them Lonell....

Kevin from Westline piloted our Robbie 44. His knowledge of the terrain and skill as a pilot made getting the right shots a lot easier. Thanks Kev, we had a great flight.....

And on to Dragon Peaks.... The island setting for the reception suited the wedding perfectly. Peter and Ady, our hosts from Dragon's Rest at Dragon Peaks Resort were amazing. From the food, to the decor to the music, everything fell into place like pieces of a well constructed jigsaw puzzle. The evening was faultless - perfect!

Marc and Lonell, Tinus and Daleen and Robin and Susan, thank you, thank you, thank you!
It was a privilege to share this once in a lifetime experience with you. Marc and Lonell, we wish you the very best for your new journey together.
